Infini lights up Canadian uranium targets for diamond drilling tilt

Diamond drilling core from Infini Resources’ Reynolds and Reitenbach Lake project in Saskatchewan, Canada, presenting hydrothermal alteration from 155m downhole.

The company says its Portland Creek crews have impressively completed some 283 kilometres of traverses, recording over 51,000 radiometric measurements across 465 geological stations. The company says the strongest radiometric responses were consistently associated with fractured and bleached granite, leucogranite veins and sericitic fault gouge, reinforcing evidence of a structural controlled uranium system.

Adding another layer to its targeting, a new heliborne geophysical survey across the expanded 329-square-kilometre project has mapped major structural fault sets and intersections, with the notable absence of significant bedrock conductors again supporting Infini’s theory that uranium is likely hosted within structurally controlled granite-fractured networks.

‘At Portland Creek, the field program has delivered exactly what it was designed to do.’

Petrographic analysis has also independently confirmed a fracture-controlled alteration assemblage, giving the company a sharper, de-risked model as it moves toward the significant drilling phase.

With fieldwork now complete, Infini says it is gearing up for a busy third quarter.

Preparations are well advanced for the planned 5000-metre phase three diamond drilling program at Portland Lake, with a trenching program planned to run in parallel, designed to test the bedrock source of multiple targets including the eye-watering 74,997ppm, or 7.5 per cent, uranium-in-soil anomaly at its Falls Lake prospect.

Infini Resources chief executive officer Rohan Bone said: “This has been a period of strong technical progress across our Canadian uranium portfolio. At Portland Creek, the field program has delivered exactly what it was designed to do. Our field crews systematically assessed the priority airborne anomalies and confirmed strong radiometric responses on the ground, consistently within the fractured, altered and structurally prepared settings our geological model identified.”

Meanwhile in Saskatchewan, the company has wrapped up the first-ever diamond drilling program at its Reynolds Lake and Reitenbach Lake projects along the margin of the world-class Athabasca Basin. The maiden 16-hole campaign totalled 3314m and was designed to provide the first subsurface test of the projects’ uranium potential.

Drilling intersected prospective basement lithologies, including graphitic schists along with structurally disrupted zones showing brittle faulting, brecciation and promising hydrothermal alteration. The company says the geological features are consistent with its targeting model for basement-hosted uranium systems, similar to those seen at major deposits in the region, with all-important assays for the holes expected to land later this quarter.

With assays pending from major Canadian field campaigns and the drill rods about to start turning at Portland Creek, Infini will be hoping it can replicate some of those spectacular surface numbers at depth and with the drill bit.
